1/17/20– Satisfaction

Pastor Daron CrossLife Blog

We’re in a mini-series on stress relief this week, following God’s Word in Psalm 4. God has guided us about good stress, helpful silence, childlike gifts and today: true satisfaction.

Consider these lyrics from Christian artist Pat Barrett in his song, “Better Than All These Things”:

All the money that the world could hold
Mountains made of solid gold
Riches that could buy my dreams
You are better than all these things

Power that could shake the moon
Most important one in every room
Status matched by only kings
You are better than all these things

Your love is better than life
You are the well that won’t run dry
I have tasted and I have seen
You are better than all these things

Stress is often caused by looking for fulfillment in things that can’t provide it the way God does, which is perfectly. So where are you looking for this satisfaction and not finding it? It’ll stress you out.

“Many, Lord, are asking, ‘Who will bring us prosperity?’ Let the light of your face shine on us. Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound” (Psalm 4:6,7).

Looking for prosperity and success? For the secret to a good life? You’ll find it in the light of God’s face shining on you. When someone’s face shines, they are smiling. Maybe even beaming with joy. God smiles at you, because he’s so in love with you and by his grace, so pleased with you.

He is all you need. When others prosper with grain and wine and career promotions and bigger houses and glowing health and perfectly obedient children, you can be glad for them if you’re not stressed. If you are finding your satisfaction in God’s smile.

PRAYER: You are all I need, God. When you are in the right place in my heart, everything else is in its right place in my life. I want more of you. I want to be more satisfied in you. Amen.
