10 THINGS TO LEARN FROM JESUS TURNING WATER INTO WINE

Pastor DaronCrossLife Blog

The first miracle performed by Jesus and recorded in the Bible is when he attends a wedding reception. The family ran out of wine and didn’t know what to do. Mary, the mother of Jesus, also attending the wedding reception, makes a personal plea to Jesus, who turns water into wine. You can read about it in John chapter 2.

I pray that these moments and lessons to learn from Jesus’ miracle will inspire your faith today.

  1. Invite Jesus to your wedding, and to your marriage.
  2. Wine? If it’s important to you, it’s important to Jesus.
  3. Miracles don’t need to be dramatically produced with special effects to be miracles. God performs miracles in our lives often without us noticing.
  4. Listen to your mom.
  5. Why does it seem like something holy happens any time Jesus is around food?
  6. Jesus transforms our outward ritual (like jugs at a wedding in Cana used for ceremonial washing or the simple routines of life like washing the dishes) into serving the spiritual purpose of strengthening our faith.
  7. Religion and faith are not just found in church, but in all of life’s activities.
  8. A wedding banquet is the perfect place for the first miracle of Jesus, who came to invite the all people to the banquet of his forgiveness, love and eternal life.
  9. The humble carpenter from Nazareth is the heavenly Savior God.
  10. God isn’t frugal. He provides for us lavishly. Honor him with your best.

PRAYER: Dear Jesus, be my guest and attend the events of my life as you attended the wedding at Cana. Bring joy and gladness now as you did then, filling me up with your abundance. Reveal to me the miracle of your gracious love, and strengthen my faith in you. Amen.

FURTHER MEDITATION: I’m a follower and fan of the new series, “The Chosen,” presenting the life and ministry of Jesus. The show depicts this miracle, and some explanation from Dallas Jenkins, the director, about why they wrote the scene as they did. [Just google “Jesus turns water to wine – The Chosen scene YouTube” and you’ll find it.
