11/27/19– Counting Every Blessing

Pastor DaronCrossLife Blog

I was blind, now I’m seeing in color
I was dead, now I’m living forever
I had failed, but you were my redeemer
I’ve been blessed beyond all measure

I was lost, now I’m found by the father
I’ve been changed from a ruin to treasure
I’ve been given a hope and a future
I’ve been blessed beyond all measure

I am counting every blessing, counting every blessing
Letting go and trusting when I cannot see
I am counting every blessing, counting every blessing
Surely every season you are good to me

These are the opening lyrics to the song “Counting Every Blessing” by Rend Collective. https://youtu.be/w6Y91axwxfI

What I like about this song is that it connects trusting God with thanking God.

When your are thankful, counting your blessings from God instead of complaining about problems, it compels you to see through your problems to the promises of God.

The promises of God empower us to trust. The Bible commends believers of ancient times, who became “fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised” (Romans 4:21).

Trust means you are fully persuaded about something. So listen to the song “Counting Every Blessing,” and connect your thanks with your trust in God’s promises.

PRAYER: God, I cannot see what you want me to believe, but I know your promises. I also count my blessings. These are proof enough, persuading me to believe in you. Amen.

FURTHER MEDITATION: Read Romans 4:18-25. Take time to notice how Abraham’s trust was preceded by God’s powerful promises. What is a promise of God that you need to trust?
