9/18/19– Dimples

Pastor DaronCrossLife Blog

Did you know that when golf balls were first created, they were smooth? Then it was discovered that after a ball had been roughed up it could actually travel a greater distance.

So engineers developed dimples on the golf balls. They chiseled them out of the smooth shape, causing pain to that little, white ball for a higher purpose.

No more slicing quickly into the pond like a curving ping pong ball. The golf ball now launched from the tee and took off high into the sky, soaring above the world and flying a long distance and … and … hole in one!

Are you ready to take off from problems and pains that are keeping you grounded?

Are you ready to soar higher above the natural, worldly instincts that seek to avoid pain?

Are you ready for God to “rough you up” with a few dimples for a higher purpose?

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it” (Hebrews 12:11).

Don’t be afraid. You’re gonna go a long way, my friend, a long way.

PRAYER:Dear good and gracious God, pain, trouble and suffering are not my masters, they don’t control this world, and can’t define my identity or direct my destiny. They are your servants. Dimples that make me smile in faith that you are at work in me and around me. I want you to know I believe this, and believe in you. Amen.

FURTHER MEDITATION:Read Hebrews 12:7-11. Hardship in the life of a child of God is never punishment for sin, but God uses it for discipline. How do these words convince you of your Heavenly Father’s love?
