A Thought About Compromise

Jesus said, “I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.” (John 10:17,18).

Paul wrote, “Submit to one another out of brotherly love” (Ephesians 5:21).

Compromise can be an act of love, and not of surrender.

PRAYER: Of the many choices I face today, Lord, turn my heart to you and your love so that I can put others’ interests ahead of my own. Teach me where and when compromise is beneficial … and where and when it is not. Amen.

FURTHER MEDITATION: In what area of your life are you currently considering a compromise? Pray specifically about it, using your own words or the prayer above.
