Sunday worship is priority number one at CrossLife Church.
We gather the most and best of our resources to connect the most people to Jesus and each other coming to campus most regularly.
We teach the clearest gospel and guidance from God’s Word and administer the life-changing sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion.
We widely open our doors and hearts to welcome more and more new people searching for Jesus or forgiveness or Christian friends or a church family or programs for kids or a place to serve.
God’s blessings on Sunday mornings, particularly in worship, are amazing! But, if we’re honest, it doesn’t always feel amazing. Sometimes we feel a bit disappointed. Sometimes worship meets our expectations, but sometimes it doesn’t.
You might be disappointed in the song selection, or the preacher, or the usher for putting you in a bad seat, or even disappointed in yourself.
You’ll worry that you’re not as excited to be in worship every Sunday as you should be.
You’ll see that you’re doing something wrong. You’re a loser and it ruins worship for you, maybe for others, too.
That happens when we make worship too much about us, but here’s the good news. God loves us too much to let that happen.
The divine design of worship is not ours to ruin. God loves us—and loves worship—too much to let that happen. Here is why that’s true. “To him who loves us, and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests, to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power, for ever and ever! Amen” (Revelation 1:5,6).
Read all the way to the end of this blog and I’ll give you a video link with 3 teaching points based on those verses that connect heaven and worship.
In the opening verses of the book of Revelation, the headline is big and bold, that the contents of this book—including worship and heaven—are first and foremost about God. Not about golf being played in heaven. Not about how many Democrats are in heaven compared to how many Republicans. Not about your dreams, expectations or preferences. Those rob worship and heaven of you enjoying it for its ultimate headline and hallelujah—God.
The ultimate worship is about God more than you.
“Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the sevenfold Spirit before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth” (Revelation 1:4,5).
What makes the BEST Sunday worship ever. Read Revelation 1 and reflect on these:
Be here.
Expect God.
See people.
Tell your friends.
PRAYER: Worship is amazing, God, when it’s more about you than me. Yes, I’m there, but it’s less about me and more about you. Your grace and forgiveness. Your Word. Your salvation in the sacraments. The fellowship of your believers. Bless worship in my church and in churches everywhere to be more about you. Amen.
