Glorious Day

Pastor DaronCrossLife Blog

It was my tomb

’Til I met you.

Kristian Stanfill and the band Passion wrote a song about the difference that Jesus makes. It’s called “Glorious Day.”

Through the song the lyrics help us confess our sin, our weakness, our total depravity and our inability to take spiritual steps all on our own.

We also admit how overwhelming it all feels.

Shame

Weight of sin

Failures

Needed rescue (lost)

Need shelter (insecure)

Orphan (identity confusion)

Broken

Breathing, but not alive

Responding to these hurts that act as our tomb, the risen and living Jesus Christ is overwhelms us with his miraculous salvation. So powerful! So personal!

Called my name

Mercy

Saved my soul

Freedom

The old made new

How do these spectacular spiritual blessings become yours?

When you called my name

I ran out of that grave!

Jesus makes the difference. Jesus calls you from death to life, not just on the Last Day of bodily resurrection for believers, but today. From the tomb of sin, shame, failure, brokenness and unfulfilled living. Here is what happens when you run out of that grave:

Chains break

Citizen of heaven

Healing

Eyes open

Have a future

So run! Run free. Run away from the grave and don’t turn back. Run toward your holy and heavenly future. Today and every day for you is a …

Glorious day!

PRAYER: Dear Jesus, you make all the difference. When you call me out of shame, brokenness, sin, confusion and failure I run out of that grave, and it’s a glorious day! Open my eyes to freedom and life I find in you. Amen.

FURTHER MEDITATION: Your love is the air that I’m breathing. Have you ever tried meditative breathing? During your personal, quiet time with God, close your eyes and pay attention to your breathing.

As you breathe out, exhale all that is sin, all that you’ve done wrong, all you’ve failed to do or neglected, and all the guilt along with it. Listen to the air you’re exhaling as it exits your body.

Then breathe in, and inhale all that is Jesus, all that he promises, all of his saving works and his holiness. Listen to the air you’re inhaling into your body, even your soul.
