Happy Twos Day!

Pastor DaronCrossLife Blog

Today is the 22nd day of the 2nd month of the year 2022. So, what are you doing at 2:22 p.m. this afternoon?

Yes, it’s twos day! So at 2:22 or any other time, really (well, maybe two night, get it?) test your Bible knowledge, have some fun, and enjoy a few of the twos I found in the Bible.

At creation “God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night” (Genesis 1:16). The same sun and moon he made in the beginning are still shining on us today. Why?

Although the Bible doesn’t make this specific distinction, theological teaching talks about the two tables of the law in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 31:18). The first table defines our relationship with God. The second table defines our relationship with others. Which commandments are in which table?

Two of the twelve spies that Moses sent to explore the Promised Land came back with a report of faith and courage. The other 10 were afraid, and unwilling to trust in the Lord. Do you remember the names of the two men (Numbers 14:6-9)? What do they teach you about facing your fears when God is on your side?

Samson lost his strength because of his selfish pride, and the enemy Philistines gouged out his two eyes. With repentance, and renewed strength found in the Lord, Samson pushed over two huge pillars in a pagan temple and showed that God is superior (Judges 16). Has God given you a second chance at anything?

Jesus understands the power of plurality. Some things are just more impactful and effective when it’s not just you alone. Like mission work, prayer and worship to name a few (Matthew 18:20). What is a spiritual activity this week that you are glad you’re not doing alone?

Jesus exists as one being with two natures: human and divine (Romans 1:3,4; Colossians 2:9). Do you know an ancient creed (a statement of faith) that professes this deep, saving truth?

The two main doctrines of the Bible are law and gospel. The Bible is divided into two sections: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The two comings of Jesus Christ are his works of salvation that assure us of our victory over sin, death and the devil. Can you think of any more?

PRAYER: Dear God, thank you for this beautiful day. As with all days, it has something to teach me, and I pray for two open eyes and two open ears, to learn more about you and your blessings. Amen.

EVANGELISM ACTION: Let a friend who needs Jesus know that it is 2-22-22 today, and then share one or more of the Bible twos above.
