His Story

Pastor DaronCrossLife Blog

When I was a youngster in Christian elementary school, I learned what history is all about. It’s “His Story.” As in, God has the whole world in his hands.

God tells the sun to rise (Matthew 5:45). It is not on an automatic timer like my landscape lights. God moves empires and their leaders like pawns on a chess board (Psalm 2). They don’t call the shots, even when they think they do.

And God the Son—the Savior we know as Jesus Christ—was not a helpless victim unjustly condemned and crucified by powerful enemies. He remained in command from his arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane when he announced himself and the soldiers all fainted, to his final breath when he gave his spirit orders to depart his body and cases him to die.

Jesus gave his life. It wan’t taken from him. “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again” (John 10:18).

That means, in moments that Jesus appears to be helpless or disabled—like dying on a cross—he is in complete control.

That means, in a pandemic with fear of the future gripping our hearts and desperation for survival creating anxiety—Jesus has full authority.

So, today, remember His Story. Follow it in this fantastic new song by Christian artist Hillsong Worship: King of Kings.

CrossLife Church will be singing this song on Easter Sunday! Practice it with your family and be ready to sing praises to Jesus, the King of kings. Be sure to check out CrossLifePf.org/easter for all the details about our Easter celebration online.

PRAYER: Thank you, Jesus, King of kings. Praise to you, Jesus Christ! The story of your suffering and death is your story, and you have made it my story, too. COVID-19 is my story right now, and you have made it yours, too. Take care of our world, Lord. Amen.

FURTHER MEDITATION: Pause the video at each phrase. Where can you find references in Scripture? Keep the link handy. Watch the video with your family and learn the words. Be ready to sing on Easter Sunday!
