CONTRIBUTOR OR CONSUMER

Were you a contributor or a consumer during the winter storm that froze central Texas last week? Everyone had the opportunity to contribute in big and small ways. Often it depended on how well you were prepared.

Notes And Next Steps

Mark 13:32-37  + Part 8 of the series “Heaven On Earth"

“The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.” (Mark 13:24)

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.” (Mark 13:32,33)

Jesus wants you to be less of a consumer and more of a contributor.

“What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’” (Mark 13:37)

Don’t lose Jesus and his kingdom because you’re not paying attention.

“It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back.” (Mark 13:34,35)

Being prepared for Jesus to return is not a passive acceptance, it is an active assignment.

Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings … Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds … all the more as you see the Day approaching … But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved. (Hebrews 10:22-25,39)
