I AM THE GATE
Trial memberships end. Guest passes don’t provide entry into every room. Introductory rates automatically get expensive. Jesus says, “I Am the Gate,” and provides full access to God.
Notes And Next Steps
John 10:7-10 + Part 4 of the series “I Am"
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).
Jesus is not a taker, but a giver.
“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture” (John 10:9).
“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).
SPIRITUAL NEXT STEPS
- What “thief” most often convinces you that you’re a victim—you complain, or blame, or despair because things are unfair? What, exactly, was this promising you, that only Jesus can provide? Write a prayer of repentance, and ask for Jesus to be your Gate in that area of life.
- We’re so familiar with Jesus talking about himself as the Shepherd, but here he is the Gate. What are some ways they are different, as expressions of Jesus? Refer to John 10:1-18.
- Which is most meaningful for you this week? Jesus’ full attention, direction, or protection? Write down the name of a friend who needs Jesus, and share this with them before next Sunday. Pray about it.
