JESUS INVITES HIMSELF TO DINNER
When you are desperate for Jesus to connect to you, to be closer to you, today he’s telling you, “Know and believe that I’m already here. You’re not the one knocking on my door. I’m here. I’m knocking on yours.”
Notes and Next Steps
Revelation 3:14-22 + Part 3 of the series "Worship Like It's Heaven"
“Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” … “Amen! … Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!” (Revelation 19:4,6,7,9)
“These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:14-16)
The opposite of lukewarm, and the root meaning of “be earnest (and repent)” is “jealous.”
“You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.” (Revelation 3:17)
“Small in number they were big in commitment. They were … God-intoxicated … Things are different now … If today’s church does not capture the sacrificial spirit of the early church …” (Letter from a Birmingham Jail; Martin Luther King, Jr.; April 16, 1963).
“I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see … Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:18,20)
“Know and believe that I’m already here. You’re not the one knocking on my door. I’m here. I’m knocking on yours.”
