We’re excited to introduce our new series called “The Journey: Moving Forward.” We will explore and learn that wherever life leads us, Jesus is leading life. Today is a lesson about faith and fishing.

Notes And Next Steps

John 21:1-14 + Part 1 of the series “The Journey: Moving Forward"

And do you know the most common, most natural way that we deal with risk? We avoid it.

“This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.” (John 21:14)

Aslan, the lion in the story who represents Jesus Christ.

“Who said anything about being safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”

“Throw your net on the right side of the boat.” (John 21:6)

“It is the Lord!” (John 21:7)

“Bring some of the fish you have just caught … Come and have breakfast.” (John 21:10,12)

When Jesus asks you for something you think you don’t have, you will find it by faith.

Bob, an insurance salesman … became a Christian …

    1. Watch C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. If you have children, watch it with them. They’ll help you to watch it with children’s eyes and a simple faith.
    2. What risks of moving forward have you avoided? Risks that would be worth taking because Jesus lives and leads the way. Pray about it this week. Share with a trusted friend.
    3. Use a Bible or Bible app and search the gospels for accounts where Jesus teaches his disciples lessons about boating or fishing. What are some common themes? Look for key words, phrases or actions of Jesus.
    4. Participate in our CrossLife Special Gifts for Grand Opening. See the list inserted in today’s worship program. Take a risk. Ask Jesus to bless it.
