LEAVE BEHIND AND LOOK TO THE LORD

What would you think if God showed up at your door and ordered you to flee the country. Abraham left it all behind, but gained much more.

Notes And Next Steps

Genesis 12:1-5 + Part 7 of the series “Genesis: In The Beginning"

“Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1)

What gets in the way becomes the way.

“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great … I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse.” (Genesis 12:2,3)

[Abraham] did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had the power to do what he had promised. (Romans 4:20,21)

“Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great … I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse.” (Genesis 12:1-3)

“Live with faith in the son, and everything else will come true.”

God deals with you, as he dealt with Abraham, not in terms of demand but primarily in terms of promise.

SPIRITUAL NEXT STEPS

        1. We often pray based on our needs and desires. That’s good. Consider injecting a healthy does of God’s promises in your prayers, particularly his promises about his Son Jesus. Phrases like “You are a God who …” and “Because you have said …” are game changers.
        2. Pray this week about the statement, “What gets in the way becomes the way.” How is that happening in your life right now, especially in your discipleship? What did you hear in today’s message that will change this? What is the first step? Who is someone you can talk to about this?
