“If all your friends jumped off a cliff, would you jump off a cliff too?” Similar to those words of wisdom, Jesus teaches in a series of mini-parables, “Get used to different.”

Notes And Next Steps

Matthew 7:13-29  + Part 3 of the series “The Parables Of Jesus"

“If all your friends jumped off a cliff, would you jump off a cliff too?”

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13,14)

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” (Matthew 7:15)

There will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies … Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. (2 Peter 2:1,2)

“By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit” (Matthew 7:16,17).

Know, without a doubt, what the real thing looks like.

Can you know for sure that you’ll spend eternity in heaven?

“Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” (Matthew 7:22,23)

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24,25)
