THE WISE MEN DREAM A DIFFERENT DIRECTION
Life is a journey, but which direction? The wise men followed God’s way even when it meant a detour. How flexible are you when it comes to faith in a different direction?
NOTES AND NEXT STEPS
Matthew 2:1-12 + Message 2 from the series “Dreamer”
Anything I now see as familiar and known and comfortable, it was once new to me.
We like change when it’s all about our own preferences, and we don’t like change when we can’t have things our way?
What if God wants to change you?
God asked the wise men to change.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you … the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you … you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy … the Lord will be your everlasting light” (Isaiah 60:1,2,5,20).
SPIRITUAL NEXT STEPS
- Write down your new year resolutions or commitments to life-change in 2019. 1) Be specific. 2) Share them with someone. This more than doubles how likely you are to succeed.
- Search online for “why new year resolutions fail.” Write down one strategy you think would work best for you to overcome potential failure.
- Pray every morning this week for 10 minutes about 1) humility, 2) hope, and 3) holiness. Ask God to help you see how each of these is a critical ingredient for change that honors him.
- Meditate this week on the song “New Wine” by Hillsong United, or another song that inspires God-guided change. At the end of the week, what did you find that you needed to hear?
