Ten

Have you ever competed in an event where you are scored by judges? Usually the perfect score is a 10. Scoring a 10 means you just can’t get any better.

God uses the number 10 in the Bible 242 times to tell us that if we believe in him, life can’t get any better. It’s a 10.

For example, there are 10 commandments.

Did you know that in the first chapter of the Bible—which reports God’s act of creation—the words “God said” appear 10 times! God is saying, “This world is my creation and it is so good, I can’t make it any better!

There were also 10 plagues in Egypt when God rescued his people from slavery. His rescue was so complete, it couldn’t get any better, it worked!

And do you know what the tenth plague was? The Passover, where everyone who believed in God’s promise of deliverance celebrated a special meal and instead of eating beef or chicken they ate lamb.

Guess what day of the month God told them to take this lamb and actually sacrifice it to be saved from slavery and death? Here are his instructions: “On the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family” (Exodus 12:3).

Those Passover lambs were sacrificed as part of the tenth plague and served on day 10. They pictured the complete rescue and salvation that God would provide for all people through Jesus Christ. Believe it, and life can’t get any better.

PRAYER: Dear Jesus, you are the Lamb of God, the complete sacrifice for my sins. You promise that when I believe in you, life can’t get any better. You are so good! Thank you for completely giving yourself to me. I want to give myself completely to you. Amen.
