You’re His Masterpiece

Chip and Joanna Gaines restore homes in the Waco, TX area. It has boosted Waco’s popularity, spiked the median home value in Waco and now, created a national trend in home-buying.

Fixer-Uppers

Millennials saddled with college debt can afford their first home, and then make it their own. Can’t you see the grins on Chip and Joanna, knowing that what started as a TV show featuring their personal passion has become a new opportunity for millions? And can’t you see the smile on the faces of home buyers eager to create a home the Fixer Upper way? When a mess becomes a masterpiece, everyone is happy!

Like Chip and Joanna pouring their joy and passion into something of little value, and making into into a half-million dollar real estate masterpiece, God’s work on you and in you makes everyone smile, including God himself!

He’s beaming with a big grin and happy heart right now. He’s leaning to his angels say, “Hey, have you seen this? See Jim praying with deeper faith? See Mandy finding her real identity as my child?”

Work of art

What often makes the difference in the value of a work of art is the signature of the artist. You can purchase a cheap replica, or a signed original.

The artist’s signature means two things:

  1. I created this and nobody else.
  2. I’m the rightful owner of this, and if it is being sold it is by my permission and I share in the profit.

God puts his signature on you. “When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal” (Ephesians 1:13). He designed you as his masterpiece, and you are his prized work in progress. You are “God’s possession” (Ephesians 1:14).

That signing and sealing and possessing is the work of God the Holy Spirit, so you are a masterpiece of the Holy Spirit’s ownership.

As one of my seminar professors used to tell us: “God doesn’t make junk.” Go, shine in your world today. God loves you, treasures you, and beams about you.

You’re his masterpiece.

PRAYER: God, I’m in awe of you because of your amazing work in me. I can be such a mess, and you make me a masterpiece. Help me to shine today, to see my identity in you, and to let people know the joy I have because of your grace. Amen.

FURTHER MEDITATION: Read Ephesians 1 for a lofty, encouraging, God-filled Word that tells you the truth about who you really are!
