LOVE NEVER FAILS

May 15, 2022

What is the best expression of love that describes how big love is, how much you love someone? Maybe “I love you to the moon and back.” Here is God’s: “Love never fails.”

Notes And Next Steps

1 Corinthians 13:1-8 + Part 3 of the series “Victorious"

I promise that this week, some very good things or people you love will fail you. How will you respond?

The failure of love isn’t the problem; rather, our faulty interpretation of the failure is our problem.

“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it … we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” (Daniel 3:17,18)

Love …

is patient keeps no record of wrongs
is kind does not delight in evil
does not envy rejoices with truth
does not boast always protects
is not proud always trusts
does not dishonor others always hopes
is not self-seeking always perseveres
is not easily angered never fails

Discussion Questions

  1. Ready for more love in your life that will not fail? Find this video on YouTube and take 5 minutes a few times this week for Bible inspiration: Driven By a Better Love (Compilation, Time of Grace) youtu.be/lEFa1vdV9Rc.
  2. Reflect in prayer on this and fill in the blank. Discuss with Christian friends. “One of my personal weaknesses is my faulty interpretation of [someone or something I love] when that person or thing fails me.” How can this temptation draw you closer to Jesus? What is your next step? Can Psalm 27 help?
  3. In what different ways did the love of three men for God change the attitude and behavior of a king? Read Daniel 3.
  4. Pray for a friend who needs Jesus, and an opening to speak with them about love that never fails. And maybe show them that love, too.
