There’s no better place for all of us to celebrate men (and also for men to celebrate) than church and here are three reasons why.
First, the best father, best person ever to take care of his children perfectly—okay, the only father ever to take care of his children perfectly—is God, our Father in heaven.
You don’t hear about God as frequently and fully anywhere else as you do in church.
Secondly, the best man, best male, ever to walk this planet—loving women as a perfect gentleman and respecting other men in every hand shake or high five or helping a guy out without questioning the guy’s manhood or himself feeling threatened—is Jesus.
Men, you may have mentors, you may be a mentor, you may have buddies, but none of them can give you everything you need. Jesus can, and he meets you here in his church like in no other place.
Finally, guys, before you are a leader, husband, dad, dude, bro, businessman, boss in your man cave or at the gym, golf course, lake, race track or range—before all that, better than all that you are first a child of God the perfect Father and a follower of Jesus the perfect man and brother.
The better you follow your Savior, then the better leader, husband, dad, dude, bro, businessman and boss you will be. And that’s important, because others are following you.
“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people … Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing” (1 Timothy 2:5,6,8).
PRAYER: Father, you are the perfect provider, perfectly wise, and perfect in answering every need of your faith-filled children. Jesus, you are the best man, the ultimate male, completely loving of all women and respectful of all men. I pray that all men learn more from you, and thank you for the men in my life who are like you. Amen.
LOVING ACTION: Oops, did you miss Father’s Day and try to mumble your way through an excuse to your dad? Send him this. And say thanks.
