Are you adopted? You are if by faith your Savior is Jesus and, therefore, God is your heavenly Father.
Does it make you this glad? Watch the 20-second video of 4-year-old Brianna’s adoption day. Her classmates show up at the courthouse to celebrate with her. Their plastic clapping hand shakers and screams of support inspire her to do the adoption dance.
When was the last time a bunch of your friends got together and inspired you to that kind of joy because you’re spiritually adopted? This last Sunday, brother or sister!
Fellow believers cheer. The gospel is proclaimed. “You are special. You are beautiful. You are loved. You are adopted by God. You are his holy child.”
Okay, if you didn’t dance then I hope you expressed your joy somehow. Especially in a way where others see you and know without a doubt that you’re so glad to belong to God.
God thought of you an eternity ago and planned your “adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will” (Ephesians 1:5).
Jesus isn’t the only child of God. You are! His own son. His own daughter. Adopted! Naturally born to a different life, purpose and existence from which God called and claimed you for salvation in his family.

PRAYER: Dear heavenly Father, I’m adopted! By you! Thank you for choosing me even when I couldn’t choose you. Thank you for thinking of me from eternity and planning my salvation through Jesus. I love being your child! Help me to live like it now and forever. Amen.
